I'm going to network two PCs via a crossover cable, and I
would like to know something about a crossover cable and
a regular network cable. What is the differece between a
crossover cable and a regular network cable by looking at
them? This question I always get confused and really
never understand.

A crossover cable twists the signal lines (hence the nickname crossover) so
that neither a network hub nor switch is needed to connect two network
devices together. If you hold the cable connectors side by side (not end to
end) the wire colors will be in the same order in the regular network cable.
