Montana pleading...........

In both cases I am hardwired via router to two computers. One setup is XP
Pro to XP-Home and in one setup I am XP Pro to WIN2K.

I have two network adapters in my main computer-the XP Pro. One is the
onboard adapter (DELL) and one is the WMP54G PCI Wireless. My router is a
WRT54GS, The Dell is hardwired to the router and also can connect
wirelessly. The WIN2K is also hardwired. The laptop is wireless also. I
have internet access via all three computers but no network.

I have run my network setup wizard and shared drives on all three computers
in
both situations. I cannot see my other computer in either case so I must
have missed something I am supposed to do. So I need a little help.....and
leave it up to you......

LOL!

And I thank you!

Be sure the GUEST account is enabled on the machines, they are in the
same workgroup and IP range. If you are using software firewall then
the IP range must be TRUSTED. Write back with results.

Guest Accounts? I don' have no steeenking guests! LOL! Well, I've been
playing around a little bit and found that I could change my DELL wireless
network adapter to 192.168.1.2 (Linksys router) with subnet 255... and still
get on the internet via the router. And, by changing that adapter to static
IP and leaving the LAN in automatic, I have cleared the IPadress conflict.
However, still no network ability, although my other computers are showing
up on my laptop. I can't access them because it says it can't find the
path, but they're there. Progress like justice, grinds exceedingly
fine....but exceedingly slow....

Funny guy huh?

Do a right click on MY COMPUTER ans select MANAGE. Go to LOCAL USERS
and then USERS. Look at the GUEST account. Is it enabled? Enable the
GUEST account. Try now. What about your software firewall??

Well, as per your clear and concise instructions I did exactly what you
said. There is a guest account but I could not find a way to able/disable
it. It was just there. I searched everywhere including ACTIONS, but
nothing. I did not look at the WIN2K machine as its out in the garage and
it's pouring down rain at the moment...... :) But......I thank you.

Right click on the word "guest" and select properties... or...
Highlight the word "guest" and select "action" from the menu on top
and select properties there. I'm leaving for AZ in a couple of hours I
can reply no further. Keep at it... You'll find computers fun and
frustrating at the same time.

I'm serious! There is no guest account. I never added one and it never
asked for one. Why clutter up my pre-desktop if I don't have to? So...are
you saying that I now have to ADD a guest account and then enable it?....or
is there a work around?
