I have a D-Link 624 wireless router used with a DSL line. I have one PC that
I connect via a network cable and a laptop that I connect wirelessly as well
as a HP Laserjet 2600n network printer attached via a cable. I recently had
to reformat and reload everything and since then I cannot get my pc to see
there is a printer on the network.

I ran a config test on the printer and got the ip address from the printer
(192.168.0.102). I should be able to access the printer via IE by typing the
ip address in, but I get a HTTP 400 error. When I try on my laptop I gain
access to the printer set up. I have tried to ping the printer from my PC
and I get a sucessfull test with no lost packets.

This tells me I must have something screwy with my pc's network
settings/setup but it is beyond me to figure out what is wrong. Does anyone
have a possible idea?

Hi
I am not familiar with your specific printer but in most cases you have to
install the Network Printers Drivers and utility on one computer, and the
drivers on any other computer that would use it.
Most Network printer are Not like Routers. I.e. they do not have web
Interface firmware menus that can be accessed with a browser. So when you
type the IP into the browser there is nothing on the printer that understand
the communication used by the browser.

I don't know why you can't access the printer using its IP address in
IE. My LaserJet 2600n's IP address is 192.168.123.113, and typing
http://192.168.123.113 in IE brings up the printer's setup page
successfully.

Do you have another web browser (e.g. Firefox) installed? Can you
access the setup page from another browser?

Did you install the software that came with the printer? If so, try
contacting the printer through the program "HP Color LaserJet 2600n
Toolbox". On my computer, that uses this URL to connect to the 2600n:

http://localhost:3910
