I have a home network set up that share a cable modem
internet access. It is set up with three computers with
the main PC having two NIC cards installed (One for the
cable modem and one for the network). The problem is:
From the main PC I cannot view the other computers on
the network or access their files or resources
I can use the internet on all PC's
I can access the main PC from all the other PC's and
use its resources and files
All PC's except the main one can access all the other
PC's through windows
I can PING the other computers from the main PC using
the DOS command function
I am running Windows XP with all of the latest
patches and updates installed al all machines
On two of the PC's I am running Zone Alarm Pro
(including the main)
On the main PC, I have disabled the Windows based
firewalls (So I can even see the network)
In Zone Alarm, I have added the network and the IP
addresses of the other machines to the trusted list.
I need to be able to access the other computers from the
main PC, but so far I have not been able to, any idea
what I might be missing??
I have used the network troubleshooting guide in Windows
Help, but that was useless.
For the longest time, windows kept telling me I didn't
have the right access to even see the workgroup, but this
was corrected when I turned off the windows based
firewalls.
