Networking Problem

I've got two computers behind a Linksys router... a
Windows XP Pro machine and a Windows 2000 machine. They
can see eachother in the Workgroup, but I can't get into
either of them over the network. I've checked all the
settings and permissions and whatnot, they look fine to
me. Anyone have any ideas as to whats going on and/or
how to fix it?

Hi Steve,

It's probably a security related issue. This is common if you are logged
onto one machine as one user (Bob) and the other as another user (Steve).
When one machine accesses the other, it passes its user credentials. If
those credentials don't match a set of credentials on the machine being
accessed, problems will result. The easiest solution is to make sure you
have both users being used on both machines. You can do this a couple of
ways in XP - Control Panel / User Accounts, or in Computer Management. You
can use Computer Management on Windows 2000 as well.

Micheal,

Is there a way to disable that security measure? A
couple weeks ago my brother and cousin were staying with
me and they brought their computers, and they were hooked
into my router. They both run XP Home.. and were able
access eachother and share files across the network with
no problems. I was the only one not able to access the
other computers on the network and they weren't able to
access me. So I guess there's a security setting in XP
Pro. Do you know what it is?
