I have a pc that is running win2k pro, under dhcp.
It can ping and connect to any box or device on the network
and am visible from their machines but it cannot connect to
the internet....!??!
It is set the same as all the other machines that need to
connect to the net but this one machine will not connect.

oddly, when typing ipconfig in the command prompt, the window
flashes on and then closes immediately.
the commands work because I tried release and renew which
closed immediately (renew stayed open for a few seconds)...

any help out there?

Oh, when it flashes and disapperars, just press the print
screen key immidiately and then go to paint prush, paste
it and check the IPCONFIG screen.:-) Or you can use "cmd"
in Start/Run and go to command prompt first and there type
ipconfig. :-)
type ipconfig /all check for DNS entries in your 2k. Are
you able to resolve DNS?

What do you mean "flashes on then closes"? This is not a normal action for
the Command Prompt screen. The only way to close the command prompt screen
is with the exit command.

You should be using the command prompt screen not the start/ run screen.

To get the the Command Prompt screen hit the start button and select
"Programs/ Accessories / Command Prompt"
