Hi all:
Over the weekend, i put in a firewire card in home PC. I
run windows XP. After the firewire installation, the
network connection settings are slightly messed up.
heres what i know that works:
1) connection to the DSL server works, confirmed by PING
2) connection to outside servers, yahoo or google by ping
from a command prompt line works.
3) when i do ipconfig, the entry next to DNS server comes
back empty

however, the internet page does not start, i.e, i cannot
connect to the internet through internet explorer.

I did not change any of the settings, and there has never
been a problem before with the internet explorer.

lastly, pulling the firewire and putting back the usb
card, does not reset the settings, and i have tried
another NIC card too..
so in summary, i think some settings/ problems with
explorer and XP, could any body give any suggestions?

thanks
ravi

I had a chance to help some one had the similar issue. quoted form

No internet after adding firewire

Issue: When I install my video cam via the integrated firewire port on my
laptop, I lose all internet connectivity.
Solution: It was either the McAfee firewall or virus scanner...I
uninstalled both and everything works fine now.
