Networking one XP pc to a mainly 98se netowrk

I have a network of about 15 pc's, all running 98se (one
running Win ME). One pc has XP Pro and refuses to
recognize the network. It will show the network for a
second on startup, but then goes blind. No internet at
all. We're networking the 98's through netbui, does this
conflict with XP Pro somehow? Is there a way around this?
Any help is most appreciated.

Hey there mate, well with Windows 98 it's a very tricky
thing to work with when networking them with XP, I would
sujest upgrading ur Win98 machines to TCP/IP not Netbui
because XP doesn't support Netbui, there is a way around
it by getting 1 of ur pc's connected to ur network is
installing a linux os on it then running a netbui
simulation program on it but that's very hard to
configure, not even i can do so, so if it's in the best
interest of all ur pc's is just to install the TCP/IP and
using that to network ur pc's so u can see XP pc's.

I have almost the exact same problem. I have 2 Win 98SE
computers using IPX for sharing drives and printers. I
added a Win XP Pro PC and it can't see my Win 98 boxes. My
Win 98 boxes can see each other and the XP box though.
Hope someone has an idea for you, It will likely help me
also.

I have a WIN98 machine and a WinXP Pro machine and they can both see each
other OK. The difference is that the 98 machine is using TCP/IP exclusively
for sharing printers and drives which is what XP has. XP can't use the
NETBIU because it isn't a part of Windows now.
Hope this will help you!!

Jeff
