Hi, I currently have an office network which has 8 computers - a ninth is coming - which all run on Windows XP Home Edition that they came with. There are a few shared printers and one computer that serves as a server for our one client database program that we all share which is the only program that we need to do this.
My understanding is that Win XP Pro would allow up to 10 simultaneous inbound connections where XP Home only allows up to 5.
Wherein lies my problem that we've been having. Occassionally, a computer can not access our database on our server and we will receive a cannot access that database because there are already to many connections going into that computer.
Is there anyway to get around this without having to get XP Pro? Will XP Pro mesh with the XP Home Edition versions on the other computers?
The only thing that these computers are really accessing is a particular file on the hard drive.
I'd appreciate any suggestions you may all hae.
Thank You!
