I setup a small network with two computers. Both of them
run XP. I connected them together by a five-port hub using
pier-to-pier workgroup configuration. When I looked under
my network place on computer #1, I can see computer #1 and
#2. When I click on the icon for the computer #2, it asks
for my user name and password. The only information I
have are my workgroup name, my computer name, my user name
and my login password. Seem to me that they accept my
computer-name/user-name as my user name but it do not take
my login password (I have Administration permit on my user
name). I go to computer #2 and try to look for computer
#1, I got the same problem. Does any one know what do I
need to do to get to a file in the other computer?

Thanks

This can be caused if the Guest account is disabled by
default. Click the Start button, then click Run.
Type "compmgmt.msc" without quotes to open Computer
Management. In the left pane, expand Local Users and
Groups and click Users. In the right pane, right-click
the Guest account, then click Properties and
uncheck "Account is disabled". You can also create
individual accounts that the other machine tries to logon
for greater security.
