Following problem: One main site with 115 users and
one 'branch office' with 12 users. Branch Office users
are using TS. They log on locally to their WIN2000 / WINXP
workstations and then use RDP to connect to the TS. There
is a point to point between home and branch ( using Cisco
Routers ). TS users can not connect to the TS unless they
first ping it. Have created a local 'startup script' that
pings the TS so that the users do not have to be bothered
with that.

This is rather odd. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,

Gandalf

sounds like a dns or wins issue. ping is probably forcing dns resolution so
it is ready in the client machines when rdp is started. maybe point to
point delay is too long for normal connection sequence. possibly a hosts
file entry would resolve that or some other static route setup, though both
would have to be redone manually if addresses changed.
