networking issues on home LAN with XP

I have the following issue with XP Pro when accessing a
shared file from within the home OS (XP) on the network.
When I try to access my own shared folder from my
hardrive within XP, the system freezes up and I get an
error message have the time. Other computers on this LAN
are running WIN98 and can access the shared folder
remotely with no problems. Is there a solution to this?

Everyone at Service Pack 1, or 1a, I hope.
This resolves many issues.

You could try a popular registry change, it does help:
Open the registry editor.
Go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace

Export this key (in order to back it up, just in case) and then
*delete* the key called

{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} (Task Scheduler).

Close the registry.
