Okay, here's the story folks. I have a lan setup in my
home, consisting of 1 p4 2Ghz dell, & 1 custom made 1.5Ghz
AMD. They both had 3com network cards up to 1 week ago
that were working perfectly. Then I accidently drilled
through the network cable connecting them. Here's the
interesting part... I bought a new cable and reconnected
them, nothing. I bought new 3com cards, installed them on
both machines, working fine, connected the cable..
Nothing. Reconfigured the software, reinstalled xp, and
created a new lan, still nothing... I dont quite
understand why, maybe i short circuited something or what
not, But i just dont understand the problem... I would be
very grateful if anyone can offer suggestions and
assistance. Thank you

Assuming that you did short one or both NICs, did you look
at the device manager to see if a problem was indicated?
When you installed new NICs did you check to see whether the
network was configured to work with the new MAC addresses on
the new cards and any firewall also.
