Hi all, I recently bought and installed Windows XP Pro.
Two buddy's of mine have XP home. For some reason, XP
doesn't want to network correctly to either of them,
while they have no problem connecting. Why is it that
Pro works differently, and how can I fix this problem so
we can set up a network? Thank you for any help you can
provide.

Hi,

XP Pro and XP Home are entirely different when it comes
to networking. You can only connect to XP HOme, not set
up a network with xp home. You can set up a peer-to-peer
network.

Entirely different? I'm sorry, but I disagree. The only significant
differences that I can think of are:

1. XP Pro can join an existing Windows NT/2000/2003 Server domain, and
XP Home can't.

2. XP Pro can control access to shared disks and folders based on user
names, and XP Home can't.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what "You can only connect to XP
HOme, not set up a network with xp home" means. XP Pro and Home are
identical in their ability to set up a network. Neither of them can
set up a domain, which requires a server.
