I have a 7,000 square foot building. I office out of the back and rent
out the front. I have broadband (cable) in my office. I thought I
would put in a wireless router so others in the building could get
online without having to pay for another line.
With my wireless router in the back corner of the building the person
in the opposite corner can barely get signal. So I tried moving the
wireless router and this is were the problem occurs.
With the router next to the cable modem using a 6ft cable all works
fine. I tried moving the router 50 ft away from the modem, I ran the
cable and got it all hooked up and the router wont connect to the
internet. I have tested the 50ft cable and it tests fine.... I have
read that the max distance for a network cable is about 300ft Does
this also apply to the distance between the modem and router ?
Is there something else I am missing ?
