First off, I'm a newbie not only at networking but also
this board...

Here's the situation:

My computer --> Wireless NIC that detects the wireless
network fine (80-90% signal strength). Connects to the
internet fine.

Also installed is a 10/100 NIC card.

Other computer --> No wireless card, but a 10/100 NIC
Card.

I want to use my computer's internet connection to allow
the other computer (#2) to access the internet.

I've run the "Setup Home Network" stuff in XP Home. I
even selected the options for my computer to be the host,
and under the other computer to use computer #1 to access
the internet.

In My Network places under computer #1 I have many
different things:

Internet Connection
Wirelss Network Connection
Network Bridge
Local Area Connection

On the computer #2 all that's listed is the Local Area
Connection. Which, works, because I can access the 2
computers together (files, printers etc.) it's just that
computer #2 is not reconizing the internet on computer #1.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Matt,

Are both systems XP?

What network router are you using? I guess it must support Wireless or else
you have a WAP as well as a router?
In any event, I suspect both systems are meant to connect via the router
which in turn connects to the internet? (unless you're on dial-up - you
don't say?)

If using a router with broadband for example, both systems must have the ip
address of the router/gateway setup in the TCP/IP settings for your network
adapter.

If using dialup using a modem connected to just one of the systems, you will
need to use ICS (Internet connection sharing) which can be a bit of a
minefield in its own right.

Without more info on the setup of the network/equipment in use - it's a bit
hard to say much more.
