Networking between XP Home and XP Professional Machines

My laptop from work was recently upgraded from Win2000 to
XP Professional and now I can no longer share resources
between it and my home PC (which is running XP Home).
Are there any tricks to getting this to work? It wasn't
difficult getting the home network to function with
Win2000.

I know the connections work as I am able to ping both
machines and I can access my office newtork from the
laptop through a VPN connection.

1. Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection Firewall on
local area network connections -- it's for use only on a direct modem
connection to the Internet. Disable and un-install all other
firewalls while troubleshooting. Details here:

2. Use only one protocol for File and Printer Sharing. If the network
needs more than one protocol, unbind File and Printer Sharing from all
but one of them. Details here:

3. Make sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on all computers.
