About two months ago I installed a home network using a
cable access router with wireless, CAT5 wiring to a
remote PC, and wireloess to my laptop. It worked
beautifully; even my old phone line link to a Win 98 PC
began to work for the first time since installing Win XP
SP1. After a while this old link stopped working, but
the Ethernet link between two XP desktops and the
wireless to an XP (all Home edition) laptop worked fine.

After installing the latest Win XP security upgrades, my
network tells me I do not have permission to access the
other PCs (from any of the PCs). I still have internet
access from the PCs. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I have a XP Pro and XP Home network configuration and am
experiencing similar problems. Specifically, I have
extremely slow transfer rates on the XP Home computer
from the internet, whereas the XP Pro computer, (the
host) has nominal internet access speeds. The network is
connected at a hub and uses a Verison DSL modem.

Any idea why the XP Home connection is sluggish?
