before i got the cable internet I was able to connect 2
machines together through a hub but now that I got the
cable internet it seem like I can't get the 2 to see each
other, they both have the internet from the hub under one
account but no network, can some one please tell me how to
do this. xp pro is the main computer and 98 second
edition is on the other comouter.

Please when you get this solved let me know. I'm having
the same issues with XP and ME...(which is the same as
98). I would appreciate any help you can give me since
this is driving me crazy.

That hub is the likely culprit; replace it with a router.
