Networking 2 remote sites

Hi Folks,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this in some laymans terms. I
have been given the task of connecting 2 remote computers together, as
though they were in the same building.

Both systems are connected via an ADSL connection, and we basically
need to be able to map the drives between each other. For example, we
have a system in Town A and a system in Town B - each hard drive
containing different files. What we need to accomplish somehow is the
ability to map the drive of each on the opposing server, in the same
way we would if they were sat next to each other.

I've been reading about VPN's etc, but everything I have come across
doesn't go any further than explaining how to create the connection -
I've got that far, but once connected I don't see anything extra
(except for losing my internet connection locally for some reason).

If anyone can point me towards a basic tutorial, or has any advice on
how to accomplish this, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks!

The most difficulty is name resolution when browsing over VPN. We don't know how you setup VPN, but assuming you use windows server, it is better to setup WINS server for the name resolution. These link may help,
