Can 2 computers one with xp pro one with xp home that are
networked through a dsl router share the xp pro's
scanner? The scanner is an Epson Perfection 636u.
Scanner sharing is only possible if the scanner manufacturer provides
software for that purpose. Windows doesn't have the built-in ability
to share a scanner.
Sharing a scanner isn't as useful as sharing a printer. You need to
be physically present at the scanner to operate it, so you're within a
few feet of the computer that it's connected to. You can scan images
into a shared folder on that computer and access the images from other
computers on the network.
