I have just purchased a new computer with Win XP HE and
have tried to set up a network with the old computer
which runs on win 98 The 98 computer cannot access
file ,share printer, allow me to play games etc with the
new. I have been told that XP HE has an inbuilt Firewall
that prevents the two from talking Is this true and if so
how do I deactivate it????
Also if I mange to deactivate will this affect other
areas on the new computer

Any Ideas???

By default, the firewall is off, so that's not the problem.

Likely, it's something in the networking settings that is off. Try running
the network wizard on the XP machine, then make the disk when it prompts
you, and use that disk to set up the 98 machine.
