I would like to upgrade my home network speed from 10 to
100 as it is very slow. All hardware is 100 compatible.

Com 2 and 3 connect into "SMC EZ Switch 10/100 SMC-
EZ6516TX" which connectes into a "NetComm ADSL/Cable
Router NB2800". Com 1 also connects in to it as well as
a "Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem SB4200". The modem
connects into the pay T.V. outlet.

The internet works very fast on Com 1 but on Com 2 and 3
it is dialup speeds. The transfer of data between
computers is also painfully slow.

On Com 2 and 3 I have set the network speed to "100 Full"
useing IPX/SPX and TCP/IP. On Com 1 only TCP/IP. The
active lights flash once every 5 seconds in downloading
and aparently needs all computers in this 1 computer
operation.

I hope you can fix my problem.

I am not real clear about your connections, but you should
have your network in this order, from the cable modem, one
connection to the Internet and one connection to the router.
Each computer should then connect to the router via a
Ethernet RJ45 NIC.

You can and perhaps should connect all computers to the
switch and the switch to the router using Ethernet RJ 45 and
NICs.

COM ports are slow.

You might have USB connections instead of RJ45 Ethernet and
that will work, but I prefer to keep USB ports for other
uses.

I don't understand the com 1, com2, com3 that you are
talking about. However the NetComm is a 10/100
router switch with one WAN port. Unless you have
more than 4 boxen on the network the SMC switch is
unnecessary. Also the NIC's should be set on AUTO.
Also from the cable modem only so much is going to
come through the pipe. Except for OOL this is usually
about 300 kB/sec.
