Steve

I have a Toshiba Tecra Portable that has`no floppy but
has a RW/CDR. When I go through the motions of setting
of a network disc to run on my other desktop (ME) I get a
dialog box that tells me I can't proceed because I do not
have a floppy or any removable device. Is this an XP Pro
problem or a Toshiba problem????

Neither, the problem you are experiencing is due to the
fact that the network wizard is designed to write to a
floppy disk. As far as I know, windows is not smart
enough to write to a CD-R/RW from within its networking
wizard.

Possible solutions:
1. Borrow a USB external floppy
2. *Manually configure the network (it's a pain, but
sometimes you have to due it the old fashioned way).

*Note: I am not the best person to ask for manual network
configuration as I am experiencing significant
difficulties at this time myself.

Tell the Wizard not to create a network disk. You can run the XP
Network Wizard on another computer from the XP CD-ROM. Details here:

Another possibility is to burn the Wizard's file to a CD-RW to run it
on another computer. Copy this file:

C:\Windows\System32\Netsetup.exe
