Hi,

I have upgraded from XP sp2 to Vista Enterprise.

Everything looks good, but my networking does weird.

Internet explorer works fine, but telnet, nslookup, msn, windows update and
remote desktop don't work.

e.g.

- I can connect to my \\fileserver (by name), but I can't ping it (by name)

- I can open the website 64.233.183.147 (google), but telnet 64.233.183.147
80 returned with a error (The procedure call table is invalid)

- the naming resolution in IE works fine, but nslookup gives immediately the
error "no response from server"

Before Vista the machine was working fine.

My Laptop (still XP) is working fine and uses the same resources (DNS
server, network.)

I've changed my network card (just to be sure)

I've disconnected the machine from my domain

Does anybody have a clue?

I have the same sort of issue, did you find a resolution? After upgrading to
Vista on my tablet, neither of my browsers can resolve dns. If I use
NSLookup, it resolves things fine, and if I put the names/ip's in the hosts
file, IE and Firefox work for the names in hosts.

I have tried everything I can think of with no luck, any help would be
apprecaited.

Thanks,

No, sorry. didn't find a solution yet.
I've installed a clean Vista on a other disk and that is working fine.
Later I was thinking about a ip-reset (netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt) see
kb 299357.
I did not try it out yet. but I thing something like this should do the
thing. (i think)
