given three boxes:

1.) name: arrakis
os: dual-boot FC4 and win2k
mainboard: k7som+ motherboard
hard drive: 30 gig
NIC: SiS
NIC: 3com

2.) name: caladan
os: tomsrtbt or knoppix (linux, live)
hard drive: none (failed)
model: IBM 300 GL desktop
NIC: CE 192.168.0.2

3.) name: geidiprime
os: win2k
hard drive: 1 gig
model: IBM 300 GL desktop
NIC: D-Link 192.168.0.1

The challenge is to get all three boxes on the internet. The
connection must be wi-fi, and there's just a single Asus WL-330g (a
wi-fi/wireless ethernet, 802.11b/g, adapter/NIC) for this purpose.
Right now arrakis can ping google and geidiprime. However, geidiprime
can't ping google :(

How can I get geidiprime to ping google? I've tried variations on
enabling/disenabling ICS and changing IP addresses without positive
result.

The problem is geidiprime doesn't have default gateway that should point to 192.168.0.1.

The easiest way which would 'probably' work would be to enable ICS on the
arrakis Local Area Connection for the SiS 900 PCI adapter. You would also
have to set geidiprime to obtain an address and DNS automatically, or you
could manually set the default gateway and DNS to 192.168.01. The reason
this will only 'probably' work is that 192.168.2.1 is either a NAT device or
connects to one. Since ICS also provides NAT, you will have a double NAT
situation which sometimes does not work well or at all. Do NOT enable ICS
on the arrakis 3Com adapter.

A more certain solution would be straight routing, but you would have to
configure a static route to 192.168.0.x on the device at 192.168.2.1.

After setting the DHCP server and default gateway to 192.168.0.1
everything's works :)

success!! geidiprime can surf the net, next I'll add caladan to the
network :)
