Network split

I'm not 100% sure if this is an AD issue, or strictly a DNS issue, but
here goes.

I currently have two DCs and a number of member servers and PCs within
one subnet at one physical location.

We're in the process of setting up a second location and moving a bunch
of PCs over. I'm thinking it might be better to move one of my DCs to
the new location rather then leaving both here.

The locations will be linked via VPN at all times, and will be in
different subnets.

What (if any) changes are required for the DCs to see each other when
they're moved to different subnets? Do I just need to change each
machine's IPs and update the DNS zone on one side (and will those
changes then propagate to the other machine) or do I need to make the
changes on the other side?

Are there any other steps involved?

For whatever it's worth, we're currently in 192.168.0/24, I'm planning
to move the old location to 192.168.200.0/22 and the new location to
192.168.204/0 -- Should I do all the changes at once, or one at a time?

I plan to separate the networks logically, putting them on separate
VLANs (and separate ports on my router, of course) and get everything
working before I split the network physically, mostly to aid
troubleshooting. That way if I run into any issues down the road, I'll
know that it is the VPN which is at fault. I trust that this won't
cause any complications (since from the network's point of view, nothing
will change here)

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions, or is there anything I should
beware of?

Indeed - you need to weigh in many factors to your changes in your
infrastructre. One item that comes imediatly to mind is configuring AD Sites
and Subnets for your domain. Remember, it is crucial that DO NOT DELETE the
"Default-First-Site-Name" but to actually rename it if you wish.

There are many other considerations when undertaking such a task.
Fortunatley, Microsoft has many white papers on this subject, one of which
will provide great information, job aids, scripts, and guides to assist you
with what you are planning to do:

Hope this information helps,
