Robert,
Thanks for your information. I have some progress but still cannot connect both computer correctly. Below are the current conditions.
1. Both Windows XP Pro pc and Windows Vista Home Premium can connect to internet via a broadband wired and wireless router (both are connected to wired ports).
2. On Vista pc, I can ping the XP pc and access the share folder successfully using XP ip address only, not the computer name. The XP computer name cannot be seen on Vista pc. I closed both Windows Firewall and Norton Security Centre to avoid any effect from them.
3. On XP pc, I cannot ping the Vista pc but can see the computer name of Vista pc under Microsoft Windows Network. I tried to click the computer name and the system said \\ComputerName is not accessible.
It appears to me that the file sharing on my Vista pc is still incorrect so my XP cannot connect to. Where should I further look at?
Thanks,
Scott

1. To run command line in Vista, type cmd in the Start Search.
2. Can they access to the Internet?

Robert,
Thanks for your information.
I tried to ping the Vista pc on my Windows XP pc as I cannot find the cmd console in Vista. The ping of Vista pc failed. I have disabled Windows firewall and Norton security centre on my Vista wihtout any effect. Both pcs are connected via a broadband router with 4 ports wired connection and wireless connection. For this case, both are using wired connection. How can I share the folder for other clients use? It seems there is new arrangement in Vista. The Vista pc can connect to my networked printer that uses a print server.
Your further advice is appreciated.
Scott
