I have a home network setup with several computers, all running XP Pro. Is
there a way to chose which computers can have access to the others, as I
want all of the computers except one to have file sharing privilages with
the others, but can only find a "none or all" setting? IOW, I want to block
one computer from being able to access the rest of the network but still
have an internet conection. How do i do this?

TIA

:> go to control panel >network connections
click on "advanced" on top bar ...you will see "file and printer sharing"
and listed protocols below it (netbeui,tcp/ip,etc)...

uncheck the boxes next to them and that computer will have no way to share
files

there are much more complicated ways of doing this , but this is a simple
thing to try :>

You can't control access based on computer names, but XP Pro has a
very powerful and flexible way to control access based on user names.

Thanks!!! That was quite helpful. Also, an additional thanks for the others
as well. I appreciate the kind and courteous replies.
