I have two xp boxes that I have disabled simple file sharing. When I go to
theses PCs on an XP client I see the printers shared but when I click on the
folder that has the correct ACLs set up I just get a message that access is
denieded. Why does it just deny me without even asking for a username and
password?

Whats wrong here? Why is it so hard to just share something with a username
and password?

Hello, well you seem to have a problem with your passwords saved on your
computer. It seems that either you have put the password in before and it has
been entered incorrectly.

What i need to know is do you log onto a server and if you have XP Pro.

Keep In Touch!

I have the same problem. I am not a member of a domain, I use XP Pro.
However, I have access (userid and password) to a folder on an NT server.
Nevertheless, I want to share folders on one XP Pro box directly with another
XP pro box using a userid and password.

[we work in an office complex with a communal server and internet
connection. However, we only have a few gigs of space on the server and need
to back up about 15 gigs on one of our pcs. This data needs to be protected
access by other users on the network.]
