Network Setup Wizard fails - can't share files/printers

I have a Windows XP and a Windows 98 PC on which I have
installed Earthlink's Home Networking hardware. The two
machines are in different rooms. The XP machine is the
primary machine. I have DSL for internet access. I didn't
have any problem going through the software installation
for the Win98 machine. The Network Setup Wizard on my XP
system failed, though, generating an error message that
said, "Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem
and needs to close." I tried to rerun it several times,
but got the same results. I noticed immediately afterward
that print spooling was affected by the failure as well
because when I tried to print out the screen capture I
did of the error message, I got an error message that
said I had no printers set up. I restarted my PC, which
eliminated the no-printer problem, but the Network Wizard
Setup failure has not been resolved. From each PC, I'm
not able to see the other PC in Network Neighborhood so I
can't share files/printers. Both PCs are able to access
the internet using the DSL connection.

Something even weirder happened. I am now being
automatically connected to an Alaska State labor
department computer. I'm a network novice. I have no idea
how to get rid of the connection. It appears to contain
confidential information about worker's comp cases. I'd
like to get that connection removed because don't want to
be accused of hacking into their system!

Any suggestions on how to solve these problems?

Thanks

I have the exact same problem, however I have two
machines with XP on them. Same"Spoler Sub System" error,
and it affects my printer as well. I don't get the
Alaskan page however, that truely is wierd. Please let
me know if you find a solution.

I played around with my anti virus software and tunned
the home networking firwall controls to allow each
computer, re-applied the home network wizard and it
worked. Good luck
