Hi all,

I'm trying to network two computers at my home. I was
able to run the Network setup wizard ("set up a home or
small office network" link in the "Network connections"
folder) on one of the computers but when I click the same
link on the other computer (both running winxp pro)
absolutely nothing seems to happen.

After perusing other newsgroups, I've tried entering:

"rundll32 hnetwiz.dll HomeNetWizardRunDll
CHM=ntshared.chm" (minus the quotes) in the Run|Start box
with the same null result.

I then copied the "rundll32" and "hnetwiz.dll" files from
the one computer (where the network setup wizard worked)
to the other one (where it didn't work)...same story;
nothing happens.

I'm now at my wits end and just don't understand how it
couldn't be working on one computer using files that
worked on the other computer.

I do have a PCI NIC and network support from the
motherboard both active (could this be the problem?)

If anyone has an idea of the problem, please advise.

Thanks much,
Gary.

I would be that your network connections folder comes up empty. If so
here's my standard post for that.

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.
