I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with WSUS - and need to add permissions
to a folder for the "network service account". There isn't one listed in
either domain or local users. Have I got something disabled? Its a win2k
server, sp4. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Jodi

You should be able to provide security to the local account via

local name\network service replace local name with the server name

Paul,

Thanks for the fast reply.

"network service" isn't available, when I try it, it says not found. I had
not tried it with the local server name preceding it, but it was also not
found. When I tried "ntauthority\network service", I got a different error:

"The object ntauthority\network service is not valid because only objects
from domains that appear in the "Look In" box are allowed."

This is permissions on a folder. I have "network" and "service" as separate
items. Is this normal?

(I'm a newbie, if you didn't have that one figured out already...)

Did you select in the "Look In" box to look in the local machine instead of
the domain?
