I am currently running a network with Windows XP and Windows98, using a SMC
router. They all linked up and share files without any problem. However
SECURITY is the issue.

I would like to have some files shared ONLY to a specific terminal or user,
but in WindowsXP, there is no such option like in Windows 2000. Can someone
advise me on whether this can be done in WinXP using Windows or I require
some software to do that.

WinXP Pro does indeed support user-based ACLs...

Look for the Advanced Sharing option.
There you can specify sharing options for specific users/groups....

Open up My Computer, go to Tools, Folder Options, scoll to the bottom I
believe, and Uncheck "Use Simple File Sharing (recommended)" Then look and
see if you got what you were looking for.
