I have an old PC running as a server for 2/3 other PCs in the house.
Broadband, printers etc all connected to the server PC.
All machines are running XP Pro
Network is all running OK but the server PC reports a speed of only 10mps
whereas all the others are 100.
I have changed the network card for one that I know runs at 100, (tried in
another machine) but still no increase in speed.
Any ideas please

Thanks
Brian

As far as I'm aware XP uses its own drivers for the network cards. Certainly
it found the card and installed the driver OK on setup.
The other machines using the same cards are OK
Might be worth a try though
Thanks

Have you updated the driver for the card?

It may have found a compatible driver, yes. The best driver, maybe not.
Have you checked for a later driver?

Ten is all that you will get from the internet. Then 100 to/from each
PC.

While WinXP may well have included generic network card drivers that
allowed the NIC to function, the drivers provided by the card's
manufacturer will almost always be more full-featured and provide better
and/or certainly more reliable performance.
