network problems

help
i have 2 computers
one with xp and one with vista
i am trying to network them
but can not
on the xp computer i can see the computer with vista
but can not connant to the computer
and on the vista computer i can not see any computer

please help
i am not so good with computers but have look at alot of website with info
over this
telling me to try ping this and that but it does not help me

With one way visibility and access, chances are good that you have a personal
firewall problem.

It would help us a bit to know what edition of Vista and XP do you have, and
what settings are you using? Windows XP might be XP Home, XP Pro with Simple
File Sharing, XP Pro with Advanced File Sharing and Guest only access, or XP Pro
with non-Guest access. Windows Vista might be using Password Protected Sharing
disabled, or enabled. These are important settings.

You also need to be aware of specific challenges in Windows Vista.
