If you can ping the Server's IP address but not its name, then you have a
name resolution issue. If you cannot ping the IP address, then most likely
the problem is the firewall. Disabling this kind of software is notoriously
ineffective. Either configure the firewall to allow networking and ping
echoes, or uninstall it.

Hi, I have a windows 2000 server, and it is connected to a local network.

I have the firewall disabled, and if I ping from server to a
workstation, I get answer from it, but, if I ping from workstation to
server, I get no answer.

What can be the problem if I have disabled the firewall?
