I have a simple hub setup for my computers. I am using Windows 2000 Pro with
the latest updates and SP4. Everything is set up and working fine for 3 of my
4 computers but I can not get the last one to work.

Is is a Micron ZX notebook with a 3Com megahertz 10/100 Lan Cardbus PC Card
3CCFE57BT. When I connect the notebook to the hub and turn it on there is
communications (see log from sniffer) but I can not see the notebook from any
of my other computers and when I try to see the network from the notebook I
get a error message that says: 'The list of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available'.

Please help, what settings and were do I need to adjust to get this working. I
have installed the drivers a number of times trying to get it working. I have
the TCP/IP settings on this machine set the same as the other computers that
are working.

I also find that the notebook hangs (freezes) when trying to use the 3Com card
once in a while and I never have the problem if I do not have the router
connected. The log below was only with the Desktop and notebook connected (I
turned the other machines off for the log).

I have a HP notebook with Windows 2000 pro on it, and
speaking from experience with it, you may need to install
updated drivers for it. Windows 2000 seems to load fine
as is on desktops, but for notebooks their seems to be a
problem with drivers. I've heard of other people having
problems loading Windows 2000 on their notebooks, but for
desktops it was fine. I'd go to the Micron site and look
for a driver package for your machine for windows 2000.
Hope this helps.

How are you connecting to your router. If it is through a
serial port, you may have an IRQ Confict, with the nic or
pcmcia slot.

Check in Services to see if both Server and Workstation services are
running. The problem machine doesn't have a software firewall on it does it?

Yes both services are running. I am thinking that I might be having a problem
with the PC card slot, I upgrade from windows 98 to windows 2000 now I can not
get this pc card (3com LAN) nor the modem card to work. I just tried a
Netgear MA401 PC card and not getting that to work, it will not start.

I have a Micron Transport ZX and everything was working with the PC card slot
under window 98 but nothing seems to work under Windows 2000. I have SP4 and
all the latest updates for Windows 2000. I have the latest Micron drivers
downloaded and installed (as far a I can tell).

It is very strange that nothing on the PC Card slot will work right, some
cards will not start or work after loading the drivers, others will not even
let me load the drivers.

Any help or ideas on this?

Thanks
