Scott

I have a home network setup using Win XP Pro. Both PC are
obtaining an IP from a DHCP server. They are both on the
same WORKGROUP.

I also have a laptop which has been configured to connect
to a DOMAIN at work. Running Win 2000 Pro. My laptop can
no longer use my resources on my home network because it
is on a DOMAIN and the RESOURCES are on a WORKGROUP.

How can I authenticate so that I can use my resouces. (And
preferablby keep separate DOMAIN/WORKGROUP)

I would also like to keep a firewall in place.

Any IDEAS would HELP.
Thanks,
Scott

Change your homecomputer to use the same workgroup as the name of your
workdomain.
Make sure that the useraccounts exist on all computers you want to share
recources with.

OK Marina

I believe your solution would work. (Altough I was
looking for an alternative so that I can keep separate
DOMAIN and WORKGROUPS).

But Now I have a new problem. I tried someone elses
advise from another website.

I changed MyComputer's Identification from my WORKDOMAIN
to match my HOMEWORKGROUP. The laptop asked me to
reboot. Now I get a login dialog box that only asks for
USER and PASSWORD info. When I attempt to login to the
PC it says it cannot find my WORKDOMAIN. SO now I cannot
login at ALL. My laptop is USELESS. I cannot even login
to change my Identification back to the way it was.

Please help me fix my laptop so that I can at least use
my PC the way it was before.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

You have a problem, as you shouldn't have changed your officecomputer. That
is why I said, change your homecomputers.
The only thing you can do is return your machine to the network and ask the
systemadministrator to rejoin it for you.
