I have windows XP and want to use my laptop for business
purposes to connect to our domain. Problem: We have a
business network with domain and we have an outside
workgroup with domain. I was told by our computer tech
that Windows XP will not allow the network. What are my
options or what can I do? Please help.

I think that he meant that an XP "home" machine won't log on to a Domain.
www.xteq.com have a windows tweaker "x-setup" that is supposed to be able to
allow you to do this. One of the guys on this forum suggested it last week.
I don't know if it works or how effective it is but have a look

Windows XP can be networked with any other operating
system. It doesn't matter, all versions of Windows can be
networked. Windows XP Pro can connect to a domain.

XP Home cannot connect to a domain normally. Although I
have never done this, it would seem possible to allow XP
Home join a domain this way using X-Setup. Details are
shown in the link below.

Windows XP Home cannot join a domain, or can it?

.

XP DOES all you to Network...
are you running Home or Pro

I am using windows XP Home and was told that I cannot log-on our domain through windows xp home. I was told I need windows professional. I was told this because the domain and workgroup our company uses cannot network with xp home. That is why I am trying to get advise to take to our computer person to get my laptop up and running but his answer is that it cannot be done.

Are you connecting from home or is your XP machine at work?
