Dear Sirs,

I have a wired network system coupled to 3 desktop computers.

Every so often when I start up I find I cannot get on the internet I get the
usual printed message which says that you cannot be connected. Some times a
yellow triangle comes up in the task bar regarding area connections. This
happens maybe 3 or 4 times a month. Each time it happens I shut down, take
the mains plug out, short it across the pins with a metal object, put the
plug back and I start up again and go straight on to the internet without
fail. This has happened at least 15 times and has worked every time.

I have a Netgear dual speed hub and another black box all fitted up by an
engineer and it works fine except for the above problem.I would like to know
why. Is it static that could be causing this to happen?

Yours faithfully,

A.BURTON.

It could possibly be your subnet masks. or that it is a problem with your
hub. I had the same problem with my modem it disconnected me from the net
when more than 3 computers connected. It was something to do with the
dataflow and the speed of the modem reading the packets

Thanks for the information I will change the hub and see if that makes a
difference. Alan.B.
