Ihave just installed a fresh copy of windows 2000 sp4 on my laptop. I was a bit concerned it may not run as i only have 64mb ram and its bit old. However, it installed fine and didnt seem that slow even running applications. Now i am attempting to connect it back up to my network. The network only consists of my Win XP desktop computer and the laptop. I have a router connected directly to a Hub and the two machines connect to the Hub. This worked fine when the laptop had Windows 98 on it
However, when i now try to connect to the internet on the laptop its take ages to load a page like google and bigger pages fail to load at all. When i try to connect to the XP machine from the laptop it say it cannot connect to the workgroup and the laptop doesnt appear in the workgroup on the windows xp computer. However, the XP xomputer can still connect to the internet fine and is not slow at all
I have tried manually assigning IPs to laptop and DHCP both result in the same problem. Is it due to the not enough RAM on the laptop? It still doesnt seem slow with only 64mb Ram. Or is it some other problem
Any help appreciated
