AT and HMB

3 computers have been networked for some time, I'll call them 1,2 and 3.
Suddenly 2 and 3 cannot see anything on 1.
I have re-installed network on 1, ensuring file and printer sharing is
enabled.
I have turned off my long-serving free zone alarm.
Still no joy.
1 can access 2 and 3 and these can access each other.
I have had this up and running without problem for 2/3 years.
All of the partitions I want to share are correctly shared.
I assume this is some obvious thing that has happened. Trouble is it is not
obvious to me.
Help please.
 
2 and 3 are probably logging onto 1 with 'guest' rights. Guests are not part
of the "Everyone' group. One solution might be to explicitly share the 1
drive with the userID(s) on 2 and 3.
 
Can 1 see anything on 2 & 3? Also, is your windows firewall turned off. Is
1 in the same workgroup as 2 & 3?

First of all, more general info:
I have one or two other computers and printers attached to the networks.
The computers have always been configured identically and all use the free
AVG and ZoneAlarm.
I mentioned computers 1,2 and 3 as these are the ones being used most of the
time. I have just switched on computer 4 which is adjacent to the computer
(1) I amusing just now. This computer is acting in the same way as comps 2
and 3.
To answer your questions:
Windows firewall is always turned of on my comps and I have just checked
thru CP that this is the case. Everything on the LAN is in same workgroup.
Comps 2, 3 and 4 can always see all the partitions on 1 and get the full
listing of contents thru Network neighbourhood. It's when going to the next
level that the problem exists.
Specific example:
Partition D shared:
Under network sharing and security, "share this folder on the network" and
"allow network users to change my files" are both ticked and the partition
share name is given - call it xxd.
The first folder in the partition is common files and it likewise is ticked
in the 2 sharing boxes and named (I have just checked these 2 items to
confirm).
Incidentally, these have been set this way for 2/3 years without problems
until now.
When comp 4 goes to "xxd" thru network neighbourhood partition d with all of
its contents show on screen. When access to "common files" is attempted the
screen shows:

"heading is - \\(name of comp)\xxd.
Message is - (name down to common folder) folders is not accessible. You
might not have permission to use this resource. Contact the administrator of
this service to find out if you have access permission.
Access is denied.
OK"
I suppose I am the administrator.
I re-iterate that my network comps are set up identically all using XP.
Since no changes have been (intentionally) made anywhere I am mystified.
