I have a windows network with 5 computers and a printer connected to a dell
switch. Internet access is through a second nic on one of the computers
which is connected to a DSL modem.

I recently changed out one of the computers and in the process configured it
to the network. It configured apparently ok. That computer is continuously
knocked off the internet connection and sometime from the entire network.
Symptoms are as follows:

Look at workgroup computers on the suspect PC or any other and cannot see
the suspects icon, even though connections can be made between computers in
both directions.

Suspect computer is on the internet and when switching to a new page
disconnects from the internet and will no longer connect (sometimes mail is
still available and sometimes not).

If I rerun set up a home network and restart the suspect computer it will
reconnect, the computer will show up again in view workgroup computers and
all is normal till the next time it blows out while on the internet.

Any ideas??

Please take this question to the windowsxp.network_web newsgroup.

I suggest that you seriously consider reconfiguring your home network
by adding a Cable/DSL router to the setup.

With the current price of these routers it is just not worthwhile
putting up with the added hassle that comes with Internet Connection
Sharing.

Good luck
