Network printing

I have a home network that is working fine. I just moved
my printer to a different computer within the network and
have been unable to print from other computers within the
network.
First, let me say that I can print from the host computer
fine.
Second, I have changed the location on all the remaining
computers to reflect the new location, new drivers were
installed if requested.
Third, when I attempt to print from a network computer,
the job is sent to the host computer, however; in the
status column it tells me there is an error. (also says
that the user is "guest")It's
frustrating that it doesn't tell me what the error is,
just that there is an error.
Lastly, I have checked pause and have attempted to resume
printing (from the host computer) and still get the error
message.

If you reboot the host computer and send a test page from the host computer
first, does this allow the guest account to print? There is an issue where
the Guest account is used by GDI to create the spl file which fails with
access denied. The work around would be to allow the guest account write
access to Windows\system32\spool\printers (or to the spool file location if
you changed this). You can also force GDI out of the picture by configuring
the queue to RAW spooling . Printer / Properties / Advanced. uncheck Enable
advanced printing features.

Let me know if this is the issue as I'd actually rather just get this to
work in the default configuration and I am getting push back on how many
customer are actually seeing this

Me too's accepted from anyone else hitting this.

ThankyouThankyouThankyou!!

I have just burned a day trying to solve my problem

I have 2 computers on a home network:
1. an old laptop "office" running 98SE, connected to a
USB printer, hardwired to a wireless router
2. new laptop "mobile" running XP Home, on a wireless
connection

I set up "office" drives to allow read-only access to all
computers, and was able to access from "mobile", but
unable to print from "mobile" via the network

Changed "\\office\windows\spool" directory to allow full
access, and am now able to print via network

Thank you - this solution should be posted on the support
troubleshooting site - the only article I found was very
discouraging:

us;307162

Thanks again!
