Hi All:

I'm trying to get a network set up in a SOHO. It consists right now of a
single WinXP pro desktop with two Lexmark Optra S mono laser printers.
These lasers both have built in 10/100 ethernet cards. They used to work
great on a network consisting of two Win 95 desktops and a Win 95 laptop.
All of that changed when the main computer was replaced and the replacement
came with WinXP. I'm having a horrible time making ANYTHING network with
XP. It is very unintuitive compared t oWin95 Peer to Peer. In order to get
things isolated and working, I have isolated an Optra S 1650 from the rest
of the group. It will be tied to the XP desktop through a hub and both
pieces will remain isolated until I get a better handle on how to do this.

Any advice on where I can get information on how to network over Ethernet
hardware to my Lexmarks using WinXP??

Any and all advice appreciated

1. Make sure both printers have a static IP address.
2. Use IP addresses, not Windows networking, to find the printers.
3. When using Add New Printer, manually create a new port (Standard
TCP/IP printer) and enter the desired printer's IP address.

This works. Thank you.
