Hi All,

I have just got HP LaserJet 4 Plus(LAN) printer, I am new at this, I have WIN2k3 SERVER, I set IP address for the printer, tried to add printer to server using the following port: IP_XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (Standard TCP/IP Port). specified the driver for it.
Then when trying to print test page or ping the printer I don't get replay.
am I missing something, or printer too old to work with Windows 2003 server

Thanks

Tim

If you use the wizard, select Local Printer. After creating the standard TCP/IP port you should get a screen which allows you to select HP JetDirect as the adapter type. There may be several JetDirect interfaces to choose from, and you may have to experiment until you get the right one.

Did you print a status page from the HP printer to be sure that it has the
correct IP address, default gateway, etc?

IP address is correct, the default gateway is 0.0.0.0. we have only one
subnet. do I have to change it?

What are the IP addresses of the computer and the printer?
