I recently installed a Dell 1710n networked laser printer. It has a
built-in print server and is shared via my central server (Win2k3) to
my users. I have been able to successfully add the printer on several
systems (we all use XP Pro), but I'm having trouble with one particular
machine. (One of my most important users, wouldn't you know?)
I have installed the driver on her machine (although it wasn't
necessary on the others) and, when I try to add or use the printer, it
still has problems. One of three things occurs:
- explorer hangs and needs to be restarted
- Windows asks me to install the print driver (already installed)
- Attempt to connect to the printer times out, telling me the PC cannot
connect to the printer, make sure it's on/plugged in, yadda yadda.
I have turned off netbios/tcp per the MSKB with no result. Any
suggestions?
