Network Printer Vista not communicating

I go to the control center and add a new network printer. The search finds
the printer I want, but when I try to print a test page there is an unknown
error and the printer never acknowledges that a document was sent.

Please help!
 
It might help you to get help if you said what make and model printer
it is and what version of Windows you using as well as how everything
is connected up on your network.

I'm not an expert in this specific area but you don't give enough
information including about the network and what is where.
