network, printer

I have a shared printer hooked up to my machine and just recently it stopped
allowing my coworkers to print to it. I can't figure out why and my bosses
are getting frustrated with me. I'm not a full time tech guy and need some
serious help.

Hi
Howe the IP scheme of the computer works?
If it is DHCP that keep changing, then it might be that the IP keep changing
and the printer keep disappearing.
Use a Static IP for this computer. Even better, tell you Boss to Get a
Network Printer, they are so inexpensive these days that it is "Kind of
Silly" to use a Printer that is attached to a computer as a Shared Office
printer.

Thanks for answering Jack and I wish I could tell my boss that, but I like
being employed ;). I did change the IP address on my computer to static, but
the other computers still won't print to it. Do I need to change theirs as
well to static?

Hi
No you do not have the change the other computer's IP.
However redo the printer sharing as though you start from scratch.
In general.
Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local
traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should
be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers
on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party
Firewall instructions.
